5 things to understand about embryo donation

  1. Embryo donors and recipients find each other through matching programs or their IVF clinic.
  2. The cost of donor embryos is usually lower than donor eggs since egg donors are typically compensated.
  3. Donors’ and recipients’ relationship can be known or unknown, but experts stress the importance of donor children being able to connect int he future.
  4. The underlying egg and sperm donor contracts (if any) need to be checked to confirm permissible donation to third parties.
  5. Recipients typically pay for the donation contract.

5 things to understand about the surrogacy process

  1. The surrogate should be medically & psychologically cleared before you start the surrogacy contract.
  2. If she’s married, her spouse must be a party to the contract.
  3. The parties are required to have separate attorneys.
  4. The contract must state how the intended parents will cover the medical expenses of the surrogate and theirnewborn.
  5. The contract must be signed with a notary.
